School mornings of September 2023

I have spent most of the school mornings fairly organised, well as organised as you can be with five ankle biters. Alfie has had many protests, still asking me to get him an Uber. Henry is just happy he can play on the footy yard at school. Charlotte needs an exorcism before she even leaves her lair. Stan…well he still wakes up in our bed. Our darling brain box Fred is just thrilled at the thought of expanding his ever-growing noggin! He said to me last night when I thought I knew an answer to his space queation, “erm Mammy, are you stupid? That’s not the right answer” ha! I said to Andrew, it’s a bloody good job we aren’t home schooling them anymore, because he would be needing Skype lessons from NASA! He would be teaching his siblings the maths. He’s onto the periodic table and algebra now…he is six years old!

The other morning felt like our ‘normal’ school mornings were returning. Henry had a major meltdown about his new school jumper being, ‘too soft’…sensory overload as he cannot stand anything velvety feeling. As I was searching for Alfie’s glasses, his only pair left out of three, I saw blue dots all over the wall – freshly painted might I add!! Blue dots, like someone had paint balled the wall. Then all on the sideboard…blue berries…

Me: “HENRY!! Why have you catapulted…”

Henry: “It wasn’t me!!!”

Me: “How did you know what I was going to say?!”

Henry: “I didn’t, I mean….er… I don’t, maybe it was fruit flies???”

I despair !!!
